The Positive Connection Initiative (PCI) was born from a simple but urgent insight: in a world overwhelmed by disconnection, we need a new mindset that prioritize human relationships. Whether it’s the breakdown of civil discourse, the rise of workplace tension, or the silent epidemic of loneliness, the consequences of disconnection are everywhere. PCI was created to change that.

Bill Groner and I launched PCI, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, in 2024 to expand the work we started with Binghamton University's Civil Dialogue Project. We were joined in this effort by the founding directors and staff—a team of educators, leaders, and researchers—who have shaped PCI’s bold, science-driven approach to cultural change.

PCI's programming for colleges/universities, high schools, and companies focuses on skill-building in active listening, emotional intelligence, curiosity, and conflict de-escalation.
