I co-founded the Civil Dialogue Project (CDP) at Binghamton University alongside fellow alum Bill Groner to help students build the skills and confidence to engage in meaningful conversations across difference. Housed in the university’s Center for Civic Engagement, the project provides training, resources, and structured opportunities for students to practice dialogue—emphasizing listening, curiosity, and understanding rather than debate or persuasion. It has since reached thousands of students and continues to support a campus culture where difficult conversations can be approached thoughtfully and constructively.
